Deja and I took a road trip to Toronto. We rented a trailer there and brought some stuff back from my Dad's house. Because there are so many pictures in this post I uploaded them at a lower resolution, so they may not look as sharp as I would like at full screen. If you would like to buy pictures they will be at their full 10Mp resolution, suitable for printing as large as 16" x 20".Here are some of the things we saw, in the order we saw them:
Merritt BC, a dry valley in a wet season.
A seasons promise
Sage is everywhere.
In the forest on Mt. Revelstoke.
A wet forest floor.
Quiet peacefulness.
Sometimes perception feels limited, inside and out.
and beauty builds up.
Off the edge of the world on the road to Dorothy Alberta.
Not too Badlands
The old school house at the park in Dorothy Alberta. Practicality becomes quaint.
Just add horses and rake.
A pioneer cabin. Rougher inside, but once home to someone.
The view looking south, on the way out of town.
Snow geese above the Kindersley SK. water tower. Look for the dog head in the clouds. Thanks Dad.
Hwy 7 to Saskatoon. We only see long thin paths, with a glimpse of the breadth of the country.
Deja on 27th St in Saskatoon SK
The high point of our half hour in Mentor Minnesota (Read the sign)
Central Park in Superior Wisconsin. The lake rules the weather.
Sunset just east of the most northern part of Lake Michigan.
The other side of the rock above.
Deja checks on a dead duck. The storm that brought the snow to Saskatoon, also washed the weed ashore and probably killed the duck.
Deja checking the water for hazards.
The Ambassador bridge at Windsor/Detroit.
Detroit.
Deja in the Brookbanks ravine in Toronto.
Maple woods in the morning.
Last seasons promise.
Beavers take their work seriously near Sudbury.
Sunset over the Michipicoten River
Snow traces the branches at White Lake On.
The open road north of Lake Superior
Kenora Waterfront
Sunset on the river south of Borups Corners On.
The dog and trailer show.
Out of the Manitoba fog and into sunny Saskatchewan.
Wapella, Sask. No services but a nice park.
Trains. You see them a lot outside of the cities we live in.
The Wapella apartments, just behind the main street and the railway tracks.
What passes for wit in the Qu'Appelle Valley. Double click the photo and read the sign.
Someone's moving house. We saw many "wide loads", and usually just moved a bit to the right. This one was so wide everyone had to get off the road.
The old water tower in Kindersley Sask.
A view of the badlands looking west, as we return to Dorothy Alberta.
Circling the wagon in Dorothy. Those dots above the car are paranoid cows. They watched us closely. The puddle under the trailer is the Saskatoon snow melting off the roof. It was a balmy 8 degrees in Dorothy.
Looking east, the historic buildings in Dorothy.

Water and weather carve the world.
Detail of the back of one of the buildings above.
The corner of the tiny log cabin above on the left.
Deja meets a local dog of a very similar breed. He didn't want to play.
Horses on the flatland above, as we drive up out of the badlands.
Up the O'hara Lake road in Banff. We were in the shadow of a mountain where it was -10 degrees.
Fabulous mountains at every turn in the road.
On the road in Yoho National Park.
Stump Lake BC, south of Kamloops
Sage and grass at Stump Lake
Clouds, trees, earth, water.
